The 'Power' System or Experience Rules Everyone is always interested in their own unique style of power, most times the systems allow for some unique concepts but often staff do not wish to open up those boundaries. Here however we like to focus on variety and as such will try to allow most every power, but naturally some things will need to be nerfed or buffed for balancing.
While this site will not run off of characters having stats, they will have tiers. Tiers are unlocked and gained through time and participation on the site. There is no set word count, no set word quality, no set time frame for this. It will be judged on a person to person basis, roughly speaking however a cordial member who posts quality threads can expect their first rank up within a month generally. [You are free to request your first and second rank ups through your tracking sheet, those beyond however will be given when you have gained enough attention. A hero at that rank would be known by any staff member.] That being said tiers are only gained by Hero characters, a villain of the week will be set at a specific tier level and will be unable to gain more ranks until they graduate unto a Re-Occurring villain. This usually will happen because a member is good at writing and playing the villain(does not go after one member for OOC reasons, tries to cripple instead of kill, etc).
The main theme of this site is that anyone can have power, but to have your own special powers tied exclusively to you, you will have to work at this and become a part of the site. The more invested you are, the bigger the site grows after all. A leader will probably have contributed their own story to the site having rp'd NPCs and made dungeon crawls or adventures and have been around for roughly a year. Villains of the Week|Side Kicks|Mentor System Any person can make an unlimited amount of 'side' characters, these characters will be a primary source of interaction as opposed to only NPCs run by staff. This is a privilege not a right, and can be taken away if a member is found to be abusing this system, rping with themselves, or general misuse. In general 'side' characters should be utilized in a proper manner and since they will contribute towards your own characters growth they are disallowed from doubling that help by direct interaction. The more fleshed out a 'side' character is will determine the amount of things that they get from their rank, with Side Kicks only gaining half the maximum amount due to their nature as someone who is training to be a HERO in their own right, or as someone who will always be there to help a HERO.
Villains of the Week will be used in missions, events, dungeon crawls, adventures and the like as a foil to a hero or a group of heroes. These characters will be granted an extra number of abilities based on the app, and also based on previous uses or other side characters by that writer. While they can be used in socials, it is extremely tricky and if you do not think you can help but be a flamboyant villain please do not engage in socials. When logic dictates you should be locked up, you should be locked up. Thus committing crimes in socials without first alerting members of said thread, and staff AND getting approval from both, attacking someone is a crime and is only allowed usually for defending oneself ONLY. Instead you should mainly use these 'side' characters to help fill positions needed for other writers HERO character threads. Villains can only be made in two different types, general and blood thirsty. [/font][/i] rank of above. All teams created this way can only have two villains a tier lower than the leader, and three villains two tiers lower than the main villain. [/ul] Side Kicks can be used on missions, events, dungeon crawls, adventures, and socials but can only be assigned to one HERO or VILLAIN character and that character cannot be the same writer(can't be your own character guys sorry). Upon creation they will be one rank lower than the HERO or VILLAIN and will only gain half of the points and free abilities of each, however they do rank up when their HERO or VILLAIN ranks up.[/div][/div] Mentors can be used on events, adventures, and socials but can only be assigned to TWO HERO characters, one upon creation and the other through RP ONLY. This mean the character will have to rp a social of recruiting someone to train under them, this other character can be the same rank as the Mentor but will not receive the bonus. Mentors start at a rank pre-approved by staff and unlike other characters will have a shadow profile to keep them hidden. This is because Mentors can also be SECRET VILLAINS but it would only occur after a long time on site, and in character. The bonds of trust must be strong for the twist to be good after all. These characters as such are only unlocked once your main HERO character gains the rank of Star Status.

So If I Don't Gain Stats, What Do I Get? Well I for one, am glad that you asked. Writing in any sort of any character will be tracked on your Tracking Sheet, this means any 'side' characters and your main character threads should be posted there. After then posting that to the Tracking Mod Tracking Thread the staff will go through and assess the thread. While word count will need to be hit for missions, dungeon crawls, and adventures in things like social threads character growth and quality of writing take priority. That is not to say it will not be rewarded in the aforementioned three types of threads, just that you will have to meet the word count to receive any sort of reward for the thread. You will gain experience towards Ranking up(tracked behind the Dungeon Master screen as it were), gain items, abilities, base points, vehicles points, organization points, influence points, perk points and the like. When do I unlock my second Hero btw? You unlock another Hero slot when your main hero ranks up, your slots will be unlocked in that same exact manner from then on. If you wish to change whom your 'main' hero is for this, you will need to alert staff and be aware that you will be capped at the same amount everyone else is. If you love it here enough to make six characters that is great, but often times interest is usually found only in some of those characters. As such it is totally fine to 'scoop' a hero after the writer has had them for over a month, and the Writer themselves has been here for four. YOU DO NOT LOSE ANYTHING BY SCOOPING, you are free to adapt all you gained to the new hero, however this all must be approved by staff BEFORE you start the process, or you will NOT be allowed to transfer ANYTHING. Powers The Rules for what are allowed on this site is rather simple, anything from any media can be adapted. However we will be following a general One Punch Man level of power scaling, so if you want to have an OP power like reality bending, be prepared for it to be small and limited in scope until you are the highest of ranks. Meanwhile on the flip side of that, if you pick a power that may seem UP and are making abilities as such the staff will try to bump the power up to that tier by suggesting improvements on your application instead. On this site we do not wish to feel that we are only cutting people down and also want to elevate you so that fair is fair and everyone will have the same scope of power if they are the same rank. In this way the difference will come down to how smart a character battles, and how smart they are about using their abilities rather than nepotism, popularity contests or some random number. Instead a fight of the same rank should be a battle in which both combatants take a hit, unless a character is built as a weakness of another[Someone who has gone all in on physical melee attacks would be tricky for someone who is used to dealing with long range attacks and built around that for example even though they are on the same rank. Likewise that same physical melee character would not do well against someone geared to attack mental, rock beats scissors, which beats paper and so on].

Gaining 'Powers' Powers are the term used for what you make your abilities from. Powers can be an extremely wide variety of things, as stated above they can come from any media or be purely unique. However they are an umbrella, 'abilities' are the attacks or skills underneath this umbrella. So Shadow Manipulation would be a 'Power' and an 'ability' would be shadow teleportation for example. [Which while could be made at rookie rank would be rather underwhelming]
Be aware that the costs below are general and if you make something as broad as Water Manipulation the cost will go up. As such you CANNOT start with that broad of an ability unless you wish to HINDER it until you reach a higher rank and can invest more Category Points into it. ONLY the original ability may be HINDERED, so consider the rate and type of powers you wish to invest in for your character.
ONE power is made upon creation, your SECOND power would cost 2 Category points, the THIRD would cost 4 Category Points, the FOURTH would cost 8 Category Points, the FIFTH would cost 18 Category Points, the SIXTH would cost 30 Category Points and the SEVENTH would cost 50 Category points, and crazily enough if one person saves up points or continues investing past Leader Rank the EIGTH would cost 80 Category Points.[NPCs do not receive a free Power]
Category points are also used for re-investing into Techpoints[used for technology or magical items/equipment that are a part of a character] required for level of technology/magic available, and Physicalpoints which are used to make your character naturally faster, stronger, tougher and the like. Time Based Power Example [attr="class","cpost"] Power Name: [[Queen Crimson]] Power Type: [[Close Range Manipulation|Spiritual]] Max Power Range for Damage/Defense: [[20 Meters]] Max Power Range for Affecting: [[1 KM]] Power Description: [[ - It literally erases time, every action other than movement will be erased and not matter. Everyone will just instantly(to their senses) appear where they planned to be 10 seconds from then, nobody can alter their actions in this erased time. The user itself cannot alter their actions other than movement, and another Power is required for the user to have knowledge about the Time Erasure for them to be able to alter their movement in the first place. As such if someone shoots a projectile at the user, they can erase the time where the projectile would hit them and have it pass through them and continue on instead. - Every Ability used with this power causes all those within a 1 KM radius to have their actions affected and time erased. - When an Ability is used a humanoid with an appearance like the image above will stand next to the user and it can be used to deliver physical damage instead of a user. Weaknesses-Abilities for this Power cannot be made until the Star Status Rank. (Locking Abilities until a specific rank is a very good weakness, the stronger the power the higher the rank it should be locked to. If this was the only weakness it probably would not be approved even if locked until Master Rank, however...) -Range shows off effects of the Time erased cluing others in. (Clues to someone's ability, AND them using it are both considered viable weaknesses) -Cannot Kill or Cripple for Sixty Seconds after each use. (Each is a good weakness, and the time balloons the severity of the weaknesses) -Time Erase erases anything other than the user's movement which is capped like everyone else's at 5 m/s. However the user cannot move more than 20 Meters away from their starting position during this time. (While yes a weakness, it is more a flavored reason for why the Power cannot attack or defend past this point when activated) -The Maximum Time usable is 10 seconds, this is followed by a cool down of 5 seconds. (Both times are short, having the cool down be half the time would normally not make this much of a weakness on it's own, but combined with so many others it helps balance something as OP as a time based power) -Requires the use of an Epitath Ability beforehand as even the user's knowledge of the time erased is erased.(Doubling the cost of abilities not only in APP but 'training' is a really good weakness.]] Illusion Based Power Example [attr="class","cpost"] Power Name: [[Just Lose It]] Power Type: [[Long Range Manipulation | Mental]] Max Power Range for Damage/Defense: [[200 Meters]] Max Power Range for Affecting: [[50 KM]] Power Description: [[-This power allows the user to shift the world around them under the guise of illusions, this can change building types, their appearance, their function, erase them all together or other various themes. This can change how a person looks, how others look, etc. Abilities made by this power must specify whether they are affecting the environment, building, or person. - This power can affect the user themselves.
Weaknesses
- However it cannot be done so in a delightful manner, and must always be unsettling, disturbing or otherwise revolting to the average person. - Once the victim realizes they are in an illusion they can dispell it by spending the half the APP as the ability they wish to break(target has choice if they figure out multiple abilities). - These can affect only 4 senses of 6 senses of a person, that of touch, sight, scent and the sixth sense. Taste and auditory illusions cannot be in this Power.]] Elemental Manipulation Example [attr="class","cpost"] Power Name: [[Sultan's Curse]] Power Type: [[Physical Reinforcement | Mid Range Manipulation]] Max Power Range for Damage/Defense: [[60 Meters]] Max Power Range for Affecting: [[60 Meters]] Power Description: [[- The user is able to produce and manipulate sand with abilities made from this power, in this way they can make shields, armor and more along with offensive capabilities. - This Power can raise the base physical tiers of the user if abilities are made for it.
Weakness
- Water based Powers can affect these abilities as though they are one rank above them.]] "Logia" Power Example [attr="class","cpost"] Power Name: [[Dust in the Wind]] Power Type: [[Mid Range Manipulation | Physical Reinforcement]] Max Power Range for Damage/Defense: [[50 Meters]] Max Power Range for Affecting: [[500 Meters]] Power Description: [[-This power grants the user a body that can become as ethereal as the wind itself though an ability will need to be made, or perks at the proper ranks. -This power allows the users body to move along with the wind in the aforementioned manner, abilities must be made for this and perks cannot be made to sustain this effect. -Wind becomes an extension of the user themselves within their Damage/Defense Range and they can manipulate it to any extent based upon the abilities created for it.
Weaknesses

Abilities utilized by No Leaf Clover will not affect the mind, but instead the soul and give a deep depression to any it inflicts it's ability upon. - Those afflicted by No Leaf Clover's ability or is struck by the 'Stand Body' will suffer from bad luck, causing every second action of the afflicted fail without recourse until the victim is out of the range of the ability. - The Manifestation may deliver physical damage of the user's strength rank for the user if abilities are made for it. It is 10 meters long. Weaknesses- Abilities can only affect People, not the environment, objects or other abilities. - Power is locked until Celebrity Rank. - Abilities cost twice as many Ability Points in the APP.]] Future Sight Power Example [attr="class","cpost"] Power Name: [[Epitaph]] Power Type: [[Recon|Spiritual]] Max Power Range for Damage/Defense: [[N/A]] Max Power Range for Affecting: [[10KM]] Power Description: [[-Future Sight Type Recon -Upon an Abilities Activation it allows the user to look into the Future, a fairly straight forward ability. -This power will show all the actions, outcomes, etc of the time it looks into, starting from when the ability is used from this Power.
Weaknesses
-It cannot look beyond 10 KM -It does not allow the user to know everything about the future, just things that will happen during the time they peer into.(If someone is hidden from the user's perception and remains hidden during the time it is used for the user will not know about that person for example)]]
Mental Defense Support Power Example [attr="class","cpost"] Power Name: [[By and Down]] Power Type: [[Close Range Support | Physical Reinforcement | Mental]] Max Power Range for Damage/Defense: [[40 Meters]] Max Power Range for Affecting: [[60 Meters]] Power Description: [[- This Power allows the user to cleanse themselves or others from mental illusions, it will not nullify spiritual powers or physical powers. - This Power allows the user to ward theirs and others mind's from mental intrusions, and attacks. - Abilities made from this power can block/cleanse abilities one rank above it and below.
Weaknesses

These abilities will be able to repair things based upon their rank. - When an Ability is used a humanoid with an appearance like the image above will stand next to the user and it can be used to deliver physical damage instead of a user, this humanoid can also touch things to utilize abilities as opposed to the user allowing range for their techniques.
Weakness
- Things being repaired MUST be touched in some form or manner, those pieces cannot move more than fifty meters away from the user. Meaning they must keep pace if they are trying to pull a Josuke and track someone in this manner. - Cannot Create things.]] Teleporting Power Example [attr="class","cpost"] Power Name: [[Filthy Acts Done at a Reasonable Price]] Power Type: [[Long Range Manipulation]] Max Power Range for Damage/Defense: [[5 Meters]] Max Power Range for Affecting: [[5 KMs]] Power Description: [[[- This Power allows the user to create abilities that can transport the user when they are shut between objects, the distance traveled and the size of the objects scale with rank. - This Power allows for the user to bring people with them, even partially potentially telefragging them. However the partial option is only available if the victim has their will shield broken and cannot get out of the way or regain grasp of the controller and go out fully with them. The user needs a firm and uncontested grasp of a person to transport them and can only transport one person at a time.
Weaknesses

The Forming Blocks of the Site Anyone who creates a character during the Alpha will have their background added to the spoiler below, at the end of the Alpha their actions during and their backgrounds will ALL be combined into making the Site History and Setting. This means that people during the Alpha can shape the site to a bit more of an extent than members who join after. Members joining during the Alpha can be founders of larger Organizations or Positions within the Metropolis. Jolyne The Orphan
Knowing neither her mother or her father Jolyne was born a lowly orphan in the streets bereft of family and chances of success, that was until The First Hero found her. The savior of The Metropolis, the one who stopped it's destruction, adopted Jolyne five years ago when the young scamp was eight years old. That Savior prevented the onward march of wild monsters that had seemingly sprung up overnight ten years hence and turned a once sprawling city into a measly Nine districts until the humans within had banded together. Over the five following years they would lose five more districts, one of which fell right before the awakening of a lowly security officer who turned into the world's First Hero.
How this happened is still unknown but soon after this Savior's awakening people began gaining Powers of their own, Jolyne was one of these Powers and she became the First Side Kick until the death of The Savior in City F two years ago. The death of The Savior activated their final Power, which spread both a blessing and a curse across the entire world. The effects of this are still not fully known until this day, but Jolyne has dedicated her life to not only finding this out but also protect the rest of humanity as well.
Unlike others who awakened their power through emotional stress, trauma, to save another, greed, or anything else Jolyne was among the first wave who simply woke up with her Power on The Day and this is also available to any who create a character in the Alpha. Jolyne the Orphan had to learn how to control her power because of this and at first she thought she was cursed to repeat every day twice, luckily before being driven insane she finally discerned the truth behind her powers and wrangled control of Epitaph as her own.
So it was that two years ago when Jolyne became Jolyne The Orphan, she brought together the other humans with powers who had acted as defenders before this to form The Heroes Organization. While she was not strong enough to lead this Organization she was granted an honorary position on the council and often acts as their mouth piece to her fellow low ranking Heroes.
Throughout all of this the young girl has remained steadfast in her thankfulness of being rescued by The Savior, and so it is that she has made it so any heroes within the Organization can live within the headquarters. This is where she too lives, on the 22nd floor in a medium sized apartment that she has decorated over the last two years.
